The Reason We Exist

We are in a people business. The Family Medical Center of Hart County has an uncompromising commitment to place the patient first.  This principle guides the formulation and evaluation of all procedures and conduct whether administrative or clinical.

Our goal is to provide professional medical service of the highest quality for patients while maintaining an environment that fosters the professional and personal growth of the individual staff member.  To achieve such goals, it is necessary to work as an integral team with each team member accepting a fair share of the workload through individual’s dependability, integrity, responsibility and pride in accomplishment.  Each job is important; a productive, cooperative atmosphere is beneficial to the employees as well as the patients.

Practice History

In 1977, Dr. James W. Middleton, Jr. started his practice in Munfordville, Kentucky as “James W. Middleton, Jr., PSC”.

Dr. Middleton is a graduate of the University of Louisville school of Medicine and trained in family practice at Trover Clinic in Madisonville, Kentucky.  He holds a Ph.D. degree from the University of Kentucky and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Dr. Middleton was inducted into the 2003-2004 Byrd High Alumini Hall of Fame in Shreveport, Louisiana.  He is one of 104 graduates of C.E. Byrd High School to have had this honor since 1925.

In 1980, Dr. Middleton and Dr. Salisbury were married and Dr. Salisbury joined the practice.  As a pediatrician, Dr. Salisbury added a dimension to the practice that was very much needed in our community, which is taking care of children from newborn until 18 years of age.

Dr. Salisbury is a graduate of the University of Louisville School of Medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.  She trained in pediatrics at Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky and is also trained in allergy and does allergy testing.

In 1999, FMC saw an increasing demand for another Pediatrician. Dr. Ann Marie Hemmer then joined our practice to help with this area. She is a graduate of the University of Kentucky School of Medicine. She is a member of the America Academy of Pediatrics and the Children’s Health Center Task Force. She received her training at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.

The Family Medical Center has grown over the years because it has recognized and met the needs of the community and its patients.

Responding to the needs of the patients is still the highest priority of the Family Medical Center, and we expect this dedication will mean continued expansion of our services in the future.

In August of 2003 Jennifer Hamilton Briggs joined our staff as a family practice nurse practitioner.  Mrs. Briggs is a native of Barren County having graduated from Barren County High School.  Mrs. Briggs received her BS in nursing from Western Kentucky University in 1999 and her Master of Science in nursing with an emphasis on primary care nurse practitioner in May 2003.

As a family nurse practitioner, Mrs. Briggs provides care to all age groups including well childcare, diagnosing and managing acute and chronic illnesses, performing minor surgery and emergency conditions.  Mrs. Briggs is certified by the American Red Cross as a CPR Instructor.

Dr. David N. Catlett joined the practice in August 2005 as a family practice provider.  Dr. Catlett is formerly from Hodgenville, KY and graduated from LaRue County High School.  He received his doctorate in medicine from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 2002 and did his family practice training at Trover Clinic in Madisonville, KY

At the Family Medical Center of Hart County we now have six providers.  With a full staff of providers we will continue our efforts of taking care of our Friends, Family and Neighbors.
